Elizabeth Presbyterian Women (EPW)

The EPW are a group of women dedicated to serving God’s people in whatever way they can.

Every year, the EPW sponsors a drive for shoebox gifts for the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child program.  Each year they organize a drive to collect layettes for Bethany Christian Services.  They collect old cell phones year-round and give them to the Police Department to be re-programmed and given out to seniors in the community.  Each year they make up gift baskets for the church staff members at Christmas time.

The EPW is always available, on very short notice, to serve a luncheon or dinner at memorial services and other functions.  They also help with many anniversary celebrations.

In addition to the above “hands-on” ministries, EPW also provides financial support to the Denver Street School, Denver Inner City Parish, our Deacons Fund, and the General Fund of EPC through the selling of Safeway gift cards.  In 2011, they have also given to the Good Samaritan Home in Simla.

Over the years they have given special gifts to Samaritans Purse for things like water for a village, medical supplies, and helping fund a program for abused children.  They have purchased many things for the Church - tables, chairs, lighting for the chancel area, a paper shredder for the office, computer software, piano tuning, a cabinet for communion supplies, etc.  In 2010 they purchased a Christmas tree and storage bags for it.  They also provide the "Our Daily Bread" devotional booklets that are always on the table in the foyer for people to take home free.

Where do they come up with the money for all this?  They work for it.  Twice a month, every other month, they raise funds by serving dinner to the Lions’ Club.  They published a cookbook in 2010 that has also been a good fund raiser.  Cookbooks are still available at $15 each.  In the past they have also had bake sales, served lunches at rummage sales, served Valentine dinners, etc.

They have made Freedom quilts, as part of a nationwide effort to give quilts to families of soldiers who have given their lives in defense of our freedom.

In 2009 and 2010 they made many Chrismon ornaments for the Christmas tree.  For more information, please click here

They are constantly at work to make things a little better at our church, in our community, around the region, the country and the world. With more members they could do even more! Would you like to be a part of this ministry? Call Oletha Tanin at 303-688-4567.
