Vets in Christ is another one of the
small groups in operation
at EPC. These groups are formed to meet the needs and
cater to the interests of various people in our congregation.
This is a group of people who have served in the military and
have come together to find ways to help those (or the families
of those) who now serve in the military.
The members feel a strong compassion for soldiers fighting the
war against terrorism, and for the families of soldiers who have
died in that and other wars. Whether they're visiting
wounded veterans at Fitzsimmons, or sending care packages to the
troops in Iraq, the group is answering the call to help others
who are hurting.
As the Elizabeth Presbyterian Church continues to work and reach
out to our community, the Vets in Christ mission has delivered
100 or more turkeys to the Soldier Family Assistance Center, in
Fort Carson, Colorado, the past Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The center is an outreach facility for soldiers and their
families, who have been wounded, and/or are currently deployed
and their families are in need of assistance, physically or
emotionally.
