We continue through the Season of Easter, visiting most of the post-resurrection appearances of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Easter is not just one day, it encompasses the 7 Sundays leading up to Pentecost on May 24.
Sermon: Did Not Our Hearts Burn Within Us?
The Road to Emmaus - following the rumors that the tomb was found empty by the women that first Easter morning, two followers of Jesus don't know what to make of their grief at losing Jesus and their hesitant hope that those rumors may be true. They meet a "stranger" on their way home as they walk, and he opens their hearts to all the scriptures that foretold the Messiah's coming. When the "stranger" is invited to join them for supper, he breaks the bread and blesses them and their eyes are opened and they recognize Jesus!
